About What Am I Here For?
Dear Reader
As you look at the cover, you may notice a wanderer gazing at a horizon of immense beauty, with a bright light piercing through the clouds, gliding over the mountain range, and finally reflecting in the waters of a lake. This particular cover was not chosen by chance and is truly symbolic. I wanted to give you an image that would so vividly and immediately explain what this book is about.
The journey
The traveler you see is a human being - just like you or me or anyone else. This person has just stopped to admire the beauty of the landscape and is thinking: "What am I here for?" He (or her) is on a journey through life, where the light points to his destination, and life itself is as beautiful as the view presented in this picture. We have all begun a similar, though symbolic, journey from the moment we are born until the moment we die.
During this time, here on the planet Earth, things do not always go smoothly and we often need guidance. Some of the fellow travelers are fortunate enough to see the ray of light shining through the clouds in the distance, giving them direction and purpose, while for others who do not see it from their own perspective, life is nothing but struggle and dark clouds everywhere.
"What Am I Here For? is not a religious book, although it may seem so, given the light and the Guide Star Series logo on the spine of the cover. Please see the "What is the Guide Star Series" section below for more details on the meaning of the Guide Star, but first let me explain what the light symbolizes to me.
The light and wisdom
Regardless of what religion you follow, or if you believe at all, you need to believe in something - even if it is only in your own abilities. You also need to know your destination - to get anywhere from the starting point, we need to know where we are going. I hope you'll agree with me that if you don't know what you want to achieve in life, you won't even start working towards it. That's why you need not only a dream and a vision, but also goals, and actions to realize your dream. A man needs discipline and determination, he needs to know himself and improve his weak points to make progress possible. To me, the light you see on the cover is knowledge and wisdom, and I hope you agree that this is what everyone needs on this journey through life.
There is also another aspect of our existence that is not just material, and I believe that a Soul or your Higher Self and Consciousness are not just products of your physical brain. Your brain is not the same as your mind and it is just a thinking device in this physical body. It is extremely useful, but your true guidance, genius, talent and creativity do not come from this world. There are many concepts in the book where I lean towards philosophy and metaphysics because I believe that there is more to a human being than just flesh and blood. It is very interesting to look at the work of art and the creative process from that perspective. I truly believe that everyone has the same creative potential and the ability to use it to make their lives successful, meaningful, interesting and worth living. We can all connect with this creative "spark" behind our Higher Self and live our lives from there.
The knowledge and tools
For the reasons above, we will also explore a bit of spirituality in the pages of this book and talk about meditation techniques and how they can benefit your life. You will have the opportunity to reflect on the concept of the Soul, past lives, and reincarnation and understand their deeper meaning, regardless of your beliefs. We will look at the aspects of success and human potential and discover many tools and concepts that you can apply to your own life to improve it. If you approach this book with an open mind and allow yourself to shift your perception and change your psychology, you can become a different person, not only successful in a material sense, but also happy and fulfilled - a self-actualized creator of your own reality. My wish for you is to understand that it is up to you what your life can become and that you can design it, transform it and shape it towards your dreams and desires. The way you think and look at life really does make a difference.
Here, in this book, you will find the knowledge you need at this point in your journey to take you to the next level of consciousness. We all need to get to the next level to feel fulfilled and accomplished, regardless of anyone else's approval.
The transformation
That, in a nutshell, is what this first book in the Guide Star series is about. It is a personal transformation tool designed to improve your life, or the lives of anyone who wants to find something more than material possessions - a life of passion, joy and contentment. This is your portal to success and abundance and the result of two decades of my own personal journey. Long ago, I trusted the voice inside me and made a change that took me to places I'd never dreamed I'd see in this lifetime and the more I trust and shift towards a creative life, the more satisfaction it brings in return.
You too can find your source of joy and meaning through the concepts and stories in this book. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
